About us
The RiesCraterMuseum was opened on May 6, 1990. Since this opening, the RiesCraterMuseum has welcomed well over 1,000,000 visitors. In the heart of the town of Nördlingen, the museum is housed in a lavishly renovated barn building, the so-called Holzhofstadel, dating back to 1503. The museum is an institution of the town of Nördlingen and the Bavarian Natural History Collections (SNSB).
The museum includes the Center for Ries Crater and Impact Research Noerdlingen (ZERIN), which houses office and seminar rooms, the drill core storage facility and a laboratory.
